Wonderful River of Life
In the providence of God I have accompanied Bro. P. M. Lancaster through the Indian Territory. God's blessings have been poured out upon the meetings. Many are observed to gladly drink of the truth. On our journey we have come to the living streams of the "Big Blue." While drinking the crystal waters of this beautiful river, issuing from the depths of earth, I was made to joyfully think of the Wonderful River of life and truth, coming from the throne of God and from the depths of divine love. Praise the Lord ! Winter is past, and reviving Spring-time gives renewed evidence of divine love, and my poor heart is made to love and praise God. The half grown leaves, the sweet song of birds, the flowers, now all combine to proclaim the glory of God. Thus all things around us glorify God or show forth his praise. But above all, the intense suffering and willing obedience of Jesus, even to the death of the cross, proclaim the wonderful love of God. Yes, this atoning blood' of Jesus--this wonderful River of life, comes from the depth of the fiches of God's love, and reaches the vilest and most helpless sinners. Dear reader, as we drink of this river and ocean of God's love and mercy, may our hearts be enlarged with gratitude to God for the gift of His Son. My friend, are your sins exceeding sinful in your own eyes? Do you feel unworthy of God's blessings, and yet desire to beg Him for mercy? Are you thirsting for Jesus Christ, the Water of life? Then remember, "Whosoever will, let him take the Water of life freely." Rev. xxii. 17. Oh ! my friends, since our sins have crucified the Lord of glory, let us be ashamed in humble penitence and contrition of soul. O! think how Jesus wore a crown of thorns woven by our sins, in order that we shall wear a crown of glory. Jesus has died for His enemies, so that we shall live with Him in heaven. Dear brethren, in view of this, shall we again break the commandments of our Lord ? O! do let us confess and forsake every sin, and love and obey our Lord Redeemer, who has died for us. Pray always and pray for me. Yours in tribulation and sweet joy. Belton, I.T. M.D. DENMAN, |
