BUT AS THE JEWS SAID when they saw Jesus weeping at the
grave of Lazarus, “Could not this man, [which] opened the eyes
of the blind, have caused that even this man (Lazarus) should not
have died?” And of course his death could have been prevented;
but because it was not prevented, we are not therefore authorized
to say that Jesus caused it; nor are we authorized to say that because
God did not prevent Adam’s sin and overruled it to the good of
the elect and the glory of God, that therefore he caused it. |
