BIOGRAPHY: John R. Rowe

SUBMITTED BY GAYLON POWELL: Elder Rowe was born in 1830 and lived much of his life in Taylor County, Georgia. He married Jane Phillips, and to this union two sons and two daughters were born. He joined Bethel Church of Taylor County by letter July 24, 1880, and served as Pastor to that church from October 1867 until October 1870 and then again from January 1898 until his death. He died August 25, 1898, at his home near Butler, Taylor County. He authored several books that related to the doctrines of the Church, and he was considered one of the strongest and ablest exponents of the Primitive Baptist faith in that part of the State for that day and time.
